What is a lifeku?

A lifeku is a haiku about daily life. For those who are unfamiliar with haiku, it is a form of Japanese poetry usually about nature, "profound," and formatted in 3 lines of 5 syllables, 7 syllables, and 5 syllables. Feel free to check out some famous haikus if you still don't get it.

Comment. It'll make the popular kids like you.

Wednesday, December 10: Reader Submission

I've decided that Wednesday will be Reader Submission day from now on...so if you've got a lifeku, go ahead and send it in.

As I've said before, Maureen is lovely, but she is also a horrible person and totally proud of it. This is, of course, why I love her. Sometimes, however, she will take a pause from laughing at people who fall down to think of other people's feelings, for example her mother's feelings. Today's lifeku is about the sacrifices we make to protect our parents' feelings, in honor of the dreaded holiday season:

Mom, I love you, but
That tomato jelly you
Made was gross. Sorry

Note: It has previously been stated that Maureen will eat anything, so the maybe the tomato jelly wasn't so much of a sacrifice after all.

Why would anyone want to make tomato jelly? It just sounds gross.

I like it. But I WILL eat anything.

Tomato is already jelly-y inside... Maybe she just scraped out the inside. And if so, yuck.

@Megan: You are approaching a level of grossness that may in fact be higher than that of your sister.

@Jiji: That description made me say, "eww" out loud. Something about the phrase "scrape out the inside." [shudder]

It's true, Megan liked it. At least that's what she told mom.

@Daughter - Mom makes all kinds of things now that she has a garden the size of a football field. This one was just not particularly good.

Well that depends on what you are thinking of getting scraped out...

*Faints*

I'm grossing myself and you out but I just can't stop. It's addictive.

I just wanted to mention here that I tried it not once, but TWICE. See, I am a nice person.

Daughter said...

I don't know if I would attribute that to your being nice, or the fact that you were probably really hungry and therefore would have eaten some Atkins pasta with that tomato jelly had there been some.

Well, it's true daughter, I had not yet eaten dinner. In fact the tomato jelly (served on crackers with cream cheese) was, in fact, the appetizer.

I really want to taste this jelly now. :-S Does that make me a freak?

Daughter said...

@Jiji: yes, penis, it does.

JijiN3k0 said...

Well in that case, I shall restrain myself since I don't need to display any further proof of my obvious freakiness.
